Thanks to the war with Iran. The only reason the US is not in a recession yet is because of AI, which is not profitable, and destined to crash. Other nations are slowly divesting from US treasuries, limiting the financial options. Infrastructure has been rotting for decades, and it’s starting to break down. Climate change has started to produce dangerous heat waves and other extreme weather, further straining infrastructure. Anyway, that’s what I can think of from the top of my head.

I’m a Canadian contractor that works on post-storm restoration all over North America. America does not maintain or do anything proactive with it’s utility infrastructure, it just fixes it when it breaks. everything is old and ready to give out
