Police suspect a 56-year-old Vietnamese woman with US citizenship of using a lethal mixture of cyanide and tea to poison five compatriots when they met at a luxury hotel in Bangkok to resolve a financial dispute.
Not sure. I know that the tradition in Tibetan culture is to always keep a cup of tea full for the guest, but the guest is only expected to drink as much as they like. The cup must always be made full again after the guest drinks from it.
I know Tibetan culture best because I grew up in a town where a lot of Tibetans settled and I got to know some and I was really confused the first time I was over why they kept refilling my cup. I was so damn full of tea that I begged them to stop giving me more and then they explained to me that I was just supposed to leave the cup full when I had enough to drink. They thought it was pretty amusing.
And as a culturally ignorant rube, might it be wrong to decline tea in these places?
