Am I drunk or is there literally just one (1) git arguing that “it’s totally not what it seems”? I guess the other downvooters don’t have anything to say. Truth hurts, I suppose.

No? I think there is a Nazi problem, but that’s it.

Though uh, the Ukrainian security chief is sounding like a Nazi here…

Saving this comment for later whenever Western press gets around to covering the story.

Supposedly he said it on live TV. That’d be a hell of a thing for Russia to lie about lol

Oh yeah- like russia doesn’t lie about obvious things. Bombing civilians at railways, bombing civilians sheltering under theaters, bombing civilians in maternity wards, bombing civilians in retirement homes etc etc etc.

I’d be willing to bet money someone is deliberately misquoted or changing context of somethig said.

Now you see, THIS is whataboutism. The point here is that we have a leader in the current Ukrainian government who comes out and says that he considers Russians to be subhuman. You come up with a baseless claim that we think all Ukrainians are nazis. We think that the current government of Ukraine is dangerously far right and descended from actual nazi collaborators. You don’t want to hear it because it doesn’t fit your world view.

You might also be interested that I translated it using AI. Results weren’t great, but language used around the 26 second mark matches the translation in the tweet pretty well. You can do this yourself instead of just calling it fake and lashing out at the left.

I didn’t spend too much time on it, and it could probably be done better. I just used free web tools to download the video and autogenerate subtitles. The text at the section I mentioned says this:

с азиатами наизусть меньше и меньше культура и

            ценности нашей ключевой минус России.

Fed into google translate, we get this:

with Asians by heart less and less culture and

the values of our key disadvantage of Russia.

Again, results weren’t great (which is why I didn’t post them the first time. Someone with more time on their hands could do better). But it hits a lot of the same words as the native speaker’s quote, and it seems to indicate something racist is being said. The first auto-subtitler I used was completely useless, the second was “good enough” for my purposes. I have no reason at all to believe that the original translation was fake, and this didn’t contradict the original translation.

If I were to try a third time, I would probably upload it to youtube and try using their tools, but I didn’t really want to upload it to my youtube account. Google’s natural language processing is pretty good.

Buddy reddit/r/ russia was full of you like minded nutjobs calling Ukrainians nazis. There’s tons of video clips of the same. Your poorly translated version is NOT what he’s saying. Context matters and you getting a snippet of it is not what’s being said.

Will you listen to yourself projecting European raciasm onto your enemies? No one has ever said Ukrainians are Nazis nor have they have ever said the existence of Nazis in Ukraine is a function of their culture and their genetics. What we have said is that Ukraine has neo-Nazi movements in it that trace their lineage all the back to the Third Reich and that the US has armed, funded, trained, and organized these Nazi groups because they are useful to US strategic aims. We then couple that with the historical fact that the US has voted against the resolutions condemning the glorification of Nazis at the UN multiple times, and we show how the “democratic” government that was ushered in on a US-backed coup incorporated the Nazi elements, giving them legitimacy, political cover, access to more weapons, training, and funding, and sending a clear signal to the world that Nazism is both acceptable and useful in the battle for total European dominance of the region as part of the larger US project for total domination of the world, which the US inherited from European colonial powers.

The de-nazification that we wish to see in Ukraine is the destruction of the support systems that enable these neo-Nazis to continue to operate, expand, recruit, and propagandize.

None of this is based on anything even resembling the racism of the West, and to suggest as much as to tell on yourself how much you believe the Western propaganda that everyone acts like the West. It’s just not true.

There is an extreme prevalence of Nazis in the post-Euromaidan Ukrainian government, military (e.g. Azov), etc.

That is not the same thing as saying “all Ukrainians are Nazis”

            Yeah?

1st) buzzfeed 2nd) the whole article is talking about the concern that the azov battalion could gain polotical/social favor by fighting for ukraine … like it did in 2014.

Yes the above battalion was fully of extremists. . Yes right up until the annexation of crimea they had been on a downward trajectory with regard to recruitment, socio and political power. After the intial conflicts in 2014 there was a a resurgence. The us military refused to work with anyone known to have been associated with the battalion and/or far right extremism- so there was kind of a whitewashing that went on internally.

Your war is literally the thing that is giving azov battalion more clout in Ukraine. Whereas if you’d just left it alone ukraine was on track to cleaning up corruption and extremism.

Which is more than likely exactly why russia invaded- the country was headed towards future stability and closer relations to Europe and the west.

In the depressingly binary Marvel movie worldview of the liberal, the only reason not to uncritically kneel down and start kissing the sonnenrad is if you’re already kissing a framed photo of Vladmir Putin instead. Really goes to show why the US “Defense” Department was so eager to sponsor those flicks.

Technically correct- it didn’t as the azove group. It was a few different groups beforehand that was brought together. I don’t remember the names off hand but my point still stands. Russia invaded ukraine twice and that is what keeps azov as a relevant force.

                  so first you claim that

The azov battalion HAD a problem with it

which sounds like you saying that the azov battalion had a problem with nazis and then they got the nazis out of azov, and you would not be the first hapless liberal bootlicker I’ve seen say that because they read articles saying after February 2022. but whatever, I guess you mistyped and you meant that the various nazi groups banded together, and I’m supposed to read your mind and know you mistyped. I’m not arguing about what exactly was happening in 2014, I’m kinda tired of dealing with this debate pervert shit
