Yemen’s Armed Forces have hit the Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv after several attempts by the Israeli military to intercept it failed.

The missile bypassed four layers of air defense and landed in the heart of Ben Gurion Airport on Sunday, with both Arrow and THAAD systems failing to intercept the advanced missile.

Israeli daily Yedioth Aharonot, citing emergency services, said at least seven people were injured in the attack.

Israeli media published footage from the moment when a ballistic missile launched from Yemen made a “direct impact” in the main airport.

We should be able to be pro-palestine and still be capable of calling this a terrorist attack. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have nothing to do with the war that could have been killed in this attack. I work in aviation, for an airline that has regular flights to Tel Aviv, and it terrifies me that I, or someone close to me could’ve been there.

Ben Gurion is used for military deliveries by countries such as the US. Ben Gurion airport is a military base.

Video shows cargo planes delivering armored vehicles to Israeli Defense Forces

A U.S. military plane landed in Ben Gurion Airport with a shipment of armored vehicles for the Israeli Defense Forces, the Israeli Defense Ministry said Thursday.

Also there is a secret nuclear missile site underneath Ben Gurion airport.

You know how you can’t show Hamas bases in hospitals but I can show you military deliveries at Ben Gurion airport?

          Israel is using human shields.

Afaik only Israel said Hamas used the hospitals, back when they lied about their genocide attempts… Tbf I don’t even care if Hamas did, using children as a shield is still not as cruel as actually fucking bombing them

Not to mention tens(hundreds?) of thousands of innocents shelled by the IDF. And decades of abuse at the hands of the Israeli population. And the complete ignorance that Hamas, before being forced to become terrorists resistance fighters for Palestine, was elected by the people as government of Gaza in 2006, to regain some order after the last time the Israeli government attacked Gaza. And some dimwit rose-tinted fucks still have the audacity to complain about October 7th and support the elimination of the Palestinian and Muslim population headed by Netanyahu.

I’m always on the side of the oppressed. And against evil States. Go Yemen.

It is possible for all of the following to be simultaneously true:

            • The Israeli War Cabinet are war criminals and terrible people for slaughtering civilians in Palestine and Lebanon.
            • The Houthis are war criminals and terrible people for targeting civilians in Israel.
            • The US Trump Administration are war criminals and terrible people for killing civilians in Houthi-controlled areas.
            • Hamas are war criminals and terrible people for targeting civilians.

While all of the above crimes are of roughly the same type (albeit for different reasons), they do differ in extent - the Israeli War Cabinet is responsible for the most suffering by a wide margin.

I think it is a morally consistent position to condemn all of the war crimes above, although perhaps to prioritise efforts condemning the bigger ones.

Then you should condemn the zionist regime for using civilians as human shields. It was they who chose to place terrorist infrastructure at the centre of a civilian airport.

I think you’re right in the abstract, but in Israel’s specific case, they’ve slaughtered, literally, tens to hundreds of thousands of civilian Palestinians.

In that context it’s really hard to feel that an attack against mixed use infrastructure with potential civilian casualties is a terrorist attack or a war crime.

When Ukraine bombs a road and it kills Russian civilians is that a terrorist attack?

Funny how it’s never called a terrorist attack when Israel, or any other western country, strikes an airport (or a hospital, or a school, or anything else)

Such is the reality of war, civilian infrastructure such as airports, sea ports, etc, is considered dual use (capable of being used by both civilian and military) and is usually bombed. International law does not exist, it’s a facade. Hundreds of civilians were killed or injured during the US Navy and Air Force bombing of Ras Isa Fuel Port in Yemen this month (a double tap strike), including fuel truck drivers and paramedics being immolated by the resulting fires. Israel and the United States have bombed international airports repeatedly in Yemen. Outside of Yemen, both Russia and Ukraine have targeted each other’s civilian airports. The USA, Israel and the UK are effectively at war with Yemen, they’ve conducted over 1000 airstrikes 24/7 over the past 50 days, including airstrikes on airports and sea ports that have killed and injured hundreds. The decision by Ansarallah/the Houthis to target airports in Israel did not come out of thin air, it’s a symmetrical response to the strikes Yemen has been subjected to. Israel or the USA will likely respond in kind now and attack the airport in Sana’a again soon.

US, UK warplanes bomb Yemen’s Hodeidah International Airport - 18 June 2024

US bombs Hodeidah International Airport in Yemen - 23 March 2025

UN chief condemns escalation in Yemen as (Israeli) airstrikes hit Sana’a Airport, key infrastructure - 27 December 2024

      The U.S. continues bombing Sana’a International Airport - 28 March 2025

Houthi-Controlled Ras Isa Port Targeted in Airstrikes by US Armed Forces - 22 April 2025

The Houthis have reported a casualty count of around 70 to 80 people and injuries to around 150-170 people, including port workers, truck drivers, and paramedics.

There is a film called The Clerks, and there is a scene about collateral casualties of contractors when Luke Skywalker destroys death star.
