  • I’m loving the infancy as well. Finally get to be a part of something from early on (ish) lol. Patience is my intention here. I have very low standards and just scroll most of the time. Any friends I made on Reddit, I have subsequently connected with through other apps so none of that is lost. I’ll keep my Reddit account as a monument to all the posts I made and karma I got. Occasionally I’ll go read through the communities I joined that I miss, but that’s it, occasionally. That’s about how often I truly engaged anyway. Anything I actually needed from them is available elsewhere, like YouTube, or by going out and meeting people.

  • Agreed. I replaced the Reddit app icon in my launcher with the one for Lemmy (Jerboa). 98% of the time I’m just mindlessly scrolling and looking at images or memes and occasionally the interesting article. So far, even the minimal content on Lemmy (and Instagram and Tumblr) has filled that need.

Probably two or three times now I’ve pulled up Reddit specifically to look something up, and that just says to me how often I actually engage with the communities there that matter to me. Reddit will no longer be getting hundreds of hits per day from me. If I need to look something up, maybe I’ll go look, and hopefully the communities I joined, like guitar, motorcycles, ADHD, pizza, and other niche interests, will develop elsewhere.

  • I’m currently looking for this, and I don’t think Reddit has a feature that’s what this sounds like. On Facebook you can download all your data, photos, posts, comments, in one big pile. Closest thing I can find on Reddit (which only came up when I googled it externally) is a form you can submit to request what data Reddit has “about” your account. And they request 30 days processing time.
