2·3 days agoPeople put doom on microwaves, I’d call that general purpose computing.
After reading that… it only pertains to commercially licensed?
The bottleneck was human ego and people not actually having enough experience for designing complex systems. Or people without enough experience setting up people systems that interfere with those who can actually design the systems.

Linux@lemmy.ml•what things would i lose or gain if i switched to linux?
21·3 days agoIf switching from Windows or Mac and you want to keep similar UI for easy transition, check out ZorinOS. A friend of mine recently installed Zorin OS Core w/ nvidia drivers and is enjoying it so far.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I think i am ready to switch from windows and need advice
1·15 days agoYeah agreed for most people migrating from Windows should be fine.
I just had a bias since I’m just used to making my own systemd services and udev rules for my work.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I think i am ready to switch from windows and need advice
1·15 days agoAhh I see. Won’t the immutability impede work? I guess that depends on the type of work. But given OP is switching from Windows for first time it’s unlikely they’ll be wanting to mess that.
yeah Bazzite is also a fine gaming + typical work option

Linux@lemmy.ml•I think i am ready to switch from windows and need advice
1·15 days agoI’m also assuming OP doesn’t want a gaming-only setup / wants to actually have a general purpose use desktop too for work, etc.
Bazzite isn’t well suited as a general purpose work + gaming machine.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I think i am ready to switch from windows and need advice
1·16 days agoFrom OP’s post it sounded like they want simple / not tweaking their OS so they can focus on gaming.

2·20 days agoAgreed. By poor people I meant people who don’t have enough money to build a doomsday bunker on their own land that filters air and water from outside disease.
The antivaxers are just a catalyst to spread increasingly worse diseases until everyone not in a bunker dies.

science@lemmy.world•Study finds declining perceptions of safety of COVID-19, flu, and MMR vaccines in the United StatesEnglish
3·20 days agoI think that’s the goal the ultra wealthy elite want: Kill off all the poor people (non-billionares) by making a critical mass percentage of population anti-vax.
Meanwhile they themselves follow best medical practices while prepping their bunkers.

43·19 days agoProbably not cloning like scifi where exact body scars, broken bones, & memories transferred.
But china did try to hide some cloning human project researcher a while back. Not sure what happened there.

221·21 days agoThe trick is to tell them you’ve been using it more than they have and that it’s not as good as chatGPT for task A, but that for task B claude does okay 25% of the time so we’ll need to 4x the timeline in order to get a good claude output based on that expected value.
But not as good as your personal local LLM that you’ve been training on company data. No one else can use it because it’s illegal to clone. (your personal local LLM is your brain)

There’s also netbird which has reverseproxy setup options recently in addition to the wireguard mesh.
