Linux@lemmy.ml•GNOME 45's Nautilus File Manager Gets a Modern Full-Height Sidebar Layout
3·3 years agoIt has the same options as right clicking on an empty space in a directory. Stuff like Create a new folder, Create a new file, that sort of thing. “Actions you might wanna make on this directory”. When you start searching, there is another button that appears and that one is the one that let you filter search options
I dont see the usefulness of that button tbh. Its like it assumes good ol right click isnt discoverable on its own. Idk anyond who has a mouse and hasnt pressed right click ever.

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•There is a drop in monthly active Lemmy users (from 65k to 57k)
1·3 years agoOh i wouldnt say its worse at all. I prefer nested replies all the way. Regardless, i still wouldnt say lemmy fits the forum format, again due to the way you access the most recent replies.
In a forum thread, you go to the last page and youve found the latest comment. In a Lemmy post, even if the nested comments arent hidden, its not obvious at first glance which one is the latest comment.
Also, if you “bookmark” a forum thread, youll get notified of any new replies in said thread. On Lemmy, you can check the latest comments from an entire instance or community. But not for a specific post.
Again, id never phrase lemmys format as worse, for i greatly prefer it. But i wouldnt consider it a forum. It simply displays the information diferently

1·3 years agoId say finding the latest comment is harder here. Sure, its not that hard when looking post replies. But comment replies? They can be nested, pretty much buried behind the “See more replies” button.
Now do a instance logo tier list

3·3 years agoThis is a tale of one individual that swooped in, during the recent Reddit blackout, to bolster our community.
I read that as botched, not bolster. I thought weve been sabotaged from the beginning, and only now we were starting to pick the pieces.
Very glad I misread that. Thank you guys for making this instance possible. Its been blissfully neat so far.
But fr, i was like this when i misread that:

1·3 years agoI need in my life a c/federated_drama or c/FediHorrorStories thatll keep tabs on all instances drama/issues. Ive subbed to so many meta comms and i still have fomo
This saves me an extension, but i dont see it fully solving the issue of “its not clear its opens the overview” that the activities button had. Someone recommended to include a tip in gnome tour so that might help to solve it.
In the mockup, a suggestion was made which i think looks very interesting in the animation they provided

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linux hit over 3% desktop user share according to StatcounterEnglish
1·3 years agoI guess there’s licensing issues for steam/proton to distribute the proprietary codecs?
Bingo. Theyve been making great strides on that front, but since KH isnt released on steam, Valve efforts have been only indirectly helpful to fix it.
It has been baby steps for now: Cutscenes used to crash the game, then they played but without video nor audio, just black screen until the game resumes. Now we can hear its audio. At one point video will work. No idea when, but it will.
Did a quick search, have you seen this?.
I appreciate your help, though that tutorial is more geared towards teaching how to use Lutris in order to play the game. In that same guide you can see my issue:
Also, (…) rename every EPIC folder into EPIC.bak. You’ll be able to avoid the unplayable cutscenes that way.
The EPIC folder is where the FMVs are. Deleting the folder grants the same result: you can play the game without FMV cutscenes. It does the job, but i want the full experience.
I could emulate some of the original games for ps2, but i prefer to wait until the pc ports work. Because they will at some point.

One day ill get to play kingdom hearts on linux with all the cutscenes. That day is not today.

I believe there is a browser extension that lets you block posts about rich people, in case you truly dont give a fuck about their endeavours. I dont remember its name but you could certainly use it
