Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What hobby do you feel is leaving you?
43·8 months agoYou should use an app like Topaz AI to upscale all your old dvds and watch shows in HD. I’ve recovered so many old series, like ALF, that will never be released in HD, now very watchable at 4x using the Iris2 upscaler.m settings and some parameter adjustments.
*I’m in no way affiliated with Topaz, only a user of the app from early days in 2020/2021.
New hobby for me!

Gross.

News@lemmy.world•Amazon Boycott Begins Friday, Includes Whole Foods, Ring, Twitch
1·1 year agoI live in a big city with multiple “stores” that all lack the quality items that I search for. I guess I’m unsatisfied with low quality “options” offered to make more profit for retail stores.
The opposite is true of privately owned stores with products. Most of the time specialty stores such as this have on hand the highest quality items, even with a markup, I am able to find the item to keep, instead of buying some throw away item at a retail store.

News@lemmy.world•Amazon Boycott Begins Friday, Includes Whole Foods, Ring, Twitch
61·1 year agoWho has time to walk around looking for their needed items only to find that they are OUT OF STOCK, or no longer carry that product because their profit margin was too small.
If local companies would carry quality products on their shelf, and KEEP THEM IN STOCK, then I would shop local instead of ordering from online retailers.
Many people forget that “access to products” is very minimal to most. Many times, complete areas of the country are controlled by the same grocery stores, products are blocked from being sold, people must drive 1hr+ to get natural groceries of quality.
Shipping and delivery is becoming the new grocery store and shopping center.

News@lemmy.world•Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash
14·1 year agoHa ha, we are already living the Jetsons.
Many people have central heat and air, and a closed in dome environment of their home. Where they go to their closed in garage and get into their space fairing craft, proceeded to maneuver themselves to the tall skyscraper in which they pull into a closed garage controlled by central heat and air systems. They go to work for the day and go home. Now, of course many people work outside of the office, but that is never covered in the Jetsons.
Everyone is always wearing space suit of some type to protect from the outside harsh environment.

News@lemmy.world•Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash
29·1 year agoI meant if air traffic controllers were trying to do the job of the Waze application for people driving their cars and telling them which wayto turn in order to get to their destination. I should have saved that more clear.
Of course these would be different than air, traffic controllers, if we were living in the future of Back to the Future II, our cars would be flying by now.

News@lemmy.world•Trump begins firings of FAA air traffic control staff just weeks after fatal DC plane crash
115·1 year agoI’m sorry, I guess I could post this elsewhere, but there is computer software that can do a lot better job than people at determining possible collisions That software can notify people who can then oversee the change in flight pattern.
Currently the warning system still requires human acknowledgment without any communication to the Vehicle/vehicles involved.
A system that would work would notify the individuals who are flying within their instrument panels similar to how we use Waze in a car to notify us if we need to turn right. Having 1 million air traffic controllers trying to do that job for the user is just foolish.

111·1 year agoRemotely controlled helicopter needs no regard for commands from Air Traffic Control.
NOAA stopped the ferry service between small Hawaiian islands, so that the those that were unable to afford a plane ticket would be stuck to one island at a time. Many on The Big island were I lived local, flip flops and community dwellings, the hit for inner island transit had taken a hard tole, with many long time locals were leaving.
The reasoning… boats were messing with Whales. I think the Whales have a mind of their own.

Interesting someone saying “don’t” listen, when that is exactly what you are looking for, advice that is outside the normal. Yes, there is more than just putting butter in water/coffee/tea. You can read about Bullet Coffee, the value of grass fed butter, and MTC oils. They provide your body the ability to absorb the water, and keep it.
I have also used Creatine powder 4mg/day for 2 months now and have seen my “skin” become more elastic, and noticeably more “moist”, plump, no longer looks “thin”, my watch no longer slips around. I now go to the bathroom 4 - 7 times per day, which is the average.
There are more general guidelines here, good luck! https://www.newinterestingfacts.com/ways-to-boost-the-bodys-ability-to-absorb-more-water/
