For example, I don’t like Will Ferrell in his typical roles. Oh they just drive me batty.
But. I do love Stranger Than Fiction. It’s such a cozy movie.
Adam Sandler. I personally feel that his humour is aimed at school children - making silly faces and silly voices and basically making fun of the disabled or neuroatypical - but it’s marketed to adults.
But I like 50 First Dates. He’s mostly not a shouting toddler in that.
My wife laothes Tom Cruise. Hard stop. No exceptions. I don’t have any problems with him as an actor, the Scientology insanity is a whole other matter.
…maybe one exception: I was able to talk her into seeing Edge of Tomorrow by telling her that he dies 26 times on-screen and countless times off-screen.
I came here to say Will Ferrell with the same exception, then read your post.
Stranger Than Fiction shows Will Ferrell is perfectly capable of being a good actor playing interesting roles, but chooses to just play low effort trash.
Jessie eisenberg. He only plays jessie Eisenberg. I hate his whiny delivery. The “Now you see me” movies were awful, and he ruined Lex Luthor.
I can’t think of anything he’s been in that I’ve thought was good.
(Nicholas hoult as LL looks great though)
Danny McBride. I can grit my teeth if he’s playing a small role, 30 Minutes or Less was pushing the limit, but he so often plays the same insufferable, arrogant asshole and he plays it too well.
Leo DiCaprio. No exceptions. The movies he’s been in that I’ve enjoyed were enjoyed despite him and not because of him.
His entire approach to a character is to put on an over-the-top accent and call it a day. I’ve never had the sense that any of his characters were the actual character and weren’t just “Leo with an accent”. I’ll be fair and say that he has improved in recent years, with movies like The Revenant being tolerable.
But holy shit, how his career went anywhere when people saw his “acting” in Titanic and especially Romeo and Juliet, is mind-boggling to me.
Tom Cruise, no explanation needed
Gonna take it in a slightly different direction and pivot the question to music. And in that case, Red Hot Chili Peppers, it’s time to stop. I get it, it was cool and unique. But now, it all sounds the same, and you headline every festival ever and I can’t enjoy the same 5 songs being crammed down my throat for the next 5 decades to come still. Please stop. I know you “can’t stop”, but please, please, stop.
Fuck (and I cannot emphasize this enough) fuck Timothy Chalamet. He is always so wooden. He can’t act for shit. Hes just a very pretty nepo baby.
Also, can we count film makers? I hate Christopher Nolan. Every movie he makes is such a torturous slog. They are all metaphors for their own creation, and everyone of them is too concerned with the machinery, like hes pretentiously drawing attention to it. “GET IT? IM MAKING A MOVIE? IM A FUCKING GENIUS!”
Owen Wilson. He has one tone and always looks spaced out.

Jared Leto, too bad he is in the Tron: Ares which I’m almost looking forward to watch simply because of nine inch nails…
Vin Diesel. Nothing against the guy personally, but his whole dumb guy thing just irks me.
Ryan Reynolds. The exception would be Waiting. I’m just so over him and his one dimensional acting.
I have two.
I do not like Will Ferrell in his typical roles at all and I’m glad I’m not the only one saying this anymore. Everyone quotes Anchorman and I just did not enjoy that at all, or Elf, Step Brothers, or any of his “everyone loves” movies. Stranger Than Fiction, however, was amazing and I wish he would do more roles like that.
Tom Cruise is my other one. I find his acting very bland and unappealing. Mission Impossible has put me to sleep every time I try to watch it. I am not a big fan of Top Gun, Jerry Maguire, or any of them. My Cruise exceptions are Tropic Thunder which I wish he did more comedic roles like that and Minority Report, not a perfect movie but it was the very first DVD I ever owned so there is a bit of nostalgia tied to it.
