I’ve thought about this a lot, and I think the age of majority should be 21 years old and the age of consent should be 25 years old.
18 is too young to be legally an “adult”; they’re still in high school most of the time. I think 21 is a better age; they are in their 20s, so not a “teenager” or a “child”. At that age you can sign up for the military, join the police force, or become a firefighter. Handle your own finances, sign a lease, etc.
I think 25 is good for the age of consent because at that age the brain is fully developed. If a 25-year-old wants to consent to sex with someone in their 40s, 50s or 60s, they should be allowed to, but 21-24-year-olds should not be able to consent to sex with much older adults because they aren’t able to and shouldn’t have that choice yet.
You can’t be an adult and simultaneously unable to consent when right of mind. Align both of those and this might make some sense.
Just because you’re a 25 year old virgin does not mean everyone should be one.

At least here in 'Merica, we can drive a couple years before reaching the age of majority (adulthood) so… Not necessarily

Age of consent means consenting to sex. I guess if that’s how you’re paying for your lease, sure, but there are other laws about that in most places

Age of consent pretty much universally refers to sex. Age of majority means you are no longer a minor (get it?) and with that comes adulthood and ability to enter into contracts

I agree with the adult at 21. If we’re going to make that the arbitrary age in which all adult restrictions are lifted, then why say it 3 years before?
The age of consent thing is nonsense. Again, I might understand making it 21 to match everything else, but any later than that doesn’t make sense.

25 is the age that some dude studying brains stopped looking, since it gets really hard to find study participants who are 7 years past freshmen in a university who’s longest tract is a 4 year undergraduate followed by a 3 year graduate.
