Bugger. Smashed one of my favourite mugs when it slipped off the edge of the bedside table 😭.
Fortunately Amazon has it - with a bonus spoon at that - so I can replace it.

Today is day 300 of learning Spanish! Bloody hell. I lost motivation really hard around day 150 so a lot of days I’ve just been redoing lessons from previous stages which are super easy. There are still periods of a few days where I am super motivated and try to push through and keep advancing, but they’re not the majority.

I’ve been trying to think about how I’d say certain things in Spanish, or imagining being In Spain or south America and needing to speak Spanish. Most of the ways to express myself are probably improper, but Spanish seems to be considerably less complicated than English in its grammar rules. I love that for a lot (maybe most?) questions, you just make a statement, but then raise your tone slightly at the end and then it’s a question.

I’ve also been watching a lot of South/Latin American travel content, and although I don’t understand very much (and it seems most people there talk at about 500 words per minute), there’s a few times when I hear a word and I’m all “OH MY GOD I KNOW WHAT HE SAID! I KNOW WHAT HE SAID!!!”

I’m currently in section 2 - unit 5. There are 26 units in section 2, and 8 sections in total. Although I think the later sections are longer (section 1 is 8 units, section 2 is 26, presumably the rest are the same length or longer)

I know that I want to keep my streak until the 365 day mark, but I’m not sure if I will once I cross that, or if I’ll let it expire

Gratitude thread - I should’ve asked from the beginning, do we like this idea still?

First Sunday sleep in in a long time

Sleep like $4!t while travelling, but so so so grateful for my ability to (travel). I’ve always ruminated about what soul goes into what body when we’re born—existential fluff—I could have been anyone, anywhere. Bettter, worse, the same…

And I was typing this, this was the coffee I got…

      Rough Guys Coffee, Singapore

Definitely quite a few bad times, but overall, even when it’s rough, I’ve still been incredibly blessed.

      We do.
Gratitude - the cats were very warm, even if they were the indirect cause of the mug smash.
I found what I thought was the mug with a matching spoon on Amazon but didn’t buy it there and then because my credit card had expired since I last used them. And when I went back and checked it wasn’t exactly the same one (or as close as).
I found the matching mug with a spoon on eBay for two thirds the price so I grabbed it.
Despite the forecast it’s a lovely sunny day.
My aunt and cousin (who also haven’t seen the place) called earlier “what are you doing today?” So they’re coming down to see me, the new place and of course the cats. 😂

It is currently sunny outside. I’ve been up and productive, including a 4 hour overtime shift and stopping at the supermarket to buy biscuit ingredients. Now I’m relaxing on the couch with a purring cat.

I often tell Tommy Cat that he’s very good at jumping, because everyone likes a bit of positive feedback. But tonight I’ve had to admit to him that both Simone Biles (and the other gymnasts) and the Equestrian horsies are probably better jumpers than him.

He might need to stick to the Olympic events of Napping and Being Fluffy.

We’ve been using their paper towel, and I’m a fan. It has half sheet perforations and it doesn’t fall apart but it doesn’t cost a bomb either.

We’re doing a sleep school for a week starting tomorrow. I hope we can get something out of it as the boys do have some trouble going to sleep and a lot of regular sleep settling advice doesn’t work because you can’t let a kid cry it out whilst there’s another kid asleep in the same room.

At best it might feel a little like a working holiday as all meals are provided. It would be nice to spend a week where we don’t have to worry about as many things for once.

Legs are feeling it today from going up and down ladders all w/e. Ladders hit different to stairs. I thought they’d be alright but thankfully it brings us to a rave choon, silly Legs

Also just got some hail inner east which I haven’t seen in a while.

Well. I typed something into my search bar and an instagram link of this girl who my ex is friends with popped up, didn’t do a good job at deleting it, and before I know it, I see that my ex has launched a music duo with the girl he told me not to worry about. Are they dating? Probably. The way he looks at her. The way they look at each other.

I feel exactly how I did right after we broke up, and I thought I’d come far. I feel so fucking stupid.

I have to cook lunch and do uni shit, but I feel guttered. At least this will help me move forward.

Diving down into the rabbit hole won’t do you any favours.

I don’t know how you can move on from this but just that you felt a lot more strongly about him than how he felt about you.

I know you wanted to be happy but it doesn’t have to be with someone who wasn’t into you, it wouldn’t be worth it.

A photo/movie is one instant snapshot of a moment. That’s all it is and you don’t need to add more into the narrative of it to make yourself feel bad about it.

You do have to accept that he wasn’t the one but there’s plenty of others out there who would be a better match for you. It’ll take time so go slowly.

Yep I won’t be doing that again.

I am happy that he’s happy, even though he hurt me. But it’s just the whole why couldn’t he be happy with me thing that’s getting to me.

I want to be happy too.

I’ve dated plenty of lovely women where we weren’t right for each other and it was better that we split up. Nothing necessarily wrong, just not compatible.

If he didn’t want you, it’s his loss. And if he was lying to you, he’s not worth pining over. (Yeah, I know, easier said than done).
Letting go of him will at least leave a space in your life to be happy in and of yourself, and hopefully allow someone in who’ll bring you joy.
Now, do you have any physical mementos of the relationship? If so, is there anywhere you can burn them? Speaking from experience, that does help.

Block both of them, this will just lead you back into the mental quagmire.

Don’t worry about it. From the sounds of things she might just be the latest girl and end up in your situation too. Even if they stay together there are no guarantees things are happy behind closed doors.

I have a new plan for my German plate - Pfeffurnusse biscuits. Looks like they have a similar flavour profile to the suggested Spekulatius, but are a bit thicker and either iced or dusted with icing sugar instead of having a fancy press/roller to make them look pretty.

I did a mouse-shaped-biscuit Google search and it is definitely doable - sliced almond ears seem to be the preferred option.

From what I can tell based on my superficial Google searching Speculaas are Dutch, but there are also versions made in parts of Germany under a slightly different name. Once my textured roller arrives I might try some of those for myself anyway, as I’ll be looking for all sorts of rolled biscuit recipies to justify buying it!
